Several Gorham students will be performing with the Osher Youth Ensembles in their annual Fall instrumental concert at Merrill Auditorium in Portland, marking the 27th season managed at the University of Southern Maine. The 125 high and middle school performers, who represent 39 towns in Southern Maine, rehearse weekly at Corthell Hall.
The concert is presented by the Osher School of Music at the University of Southern Maine. It will be held at Merrill Auditorium on Monday, Nov. 13 at 7 p.m. Admission is by donation at the door, with open seating. Suggested donation is $10 general, $5 students, seniors, USM employees and alumni, $20 for a family.
This concert will feature performances by the Portland Youth Wind Ensemble conducted by Will Kinne; the Portland Young Peoples String Consort conducted by Hanna Flewelling; and the Portland Youth Junior Orchestra conducted by Ferdinand Liva.
The concert will close with the Portland Youth Symphony Orchestra conducted by Robert Lehmann, performing Shostakovich’s “Symphony No. 1” and the world premiere of “The Golden Hour” by Heather Hastings, a USM Alumnae.
