Take some time this month to enjoy both the beauty of the Gorham campus in spring and the joy of poetry.
In celebration of National Poetry Month this April, the USM Libraries have set up a Poetry Walk in Gorham. All around campus you’ll find signs with different poems on them – some classics, some new, some originally in English, some in translation, on many different subjects, in many different styles, by poets from around the country and the world.
USM community members and Gorham community members alike are welcome to participate in the walk. You can wander around campus and see which poems you find, or grab a map from the Gorham Library to see where all 20 signs are located and plan your stroll.
We’ve also created a digital Poetry Walk map so you can view it on your phone, or take part in the experience even if you’re not able to come in person.
The poems are up as of Sunday April 3, and remain up throughout the month of April. Please email carrie.bellhoerth@maine.edu with any questions or feedback. Enjoy!
