The team, led by senior tri-captains Alyvia Caruso, Sydney Connelly and Emma Green, continued their winning streak in several individual and team events.
Caruso was crowned state champion in the 55-meter hurdles and finished second in both the Long and Triple jump in the state meet. Green won her second straight state championship in the high jump and finished in third place in the 55-meter dash. Connelly, along with Green, Maddie Michaud and Ashley Connolly repeated as state champions in the 4 X 200-meter relay, breaking the state Class A record in the process.
School records were set by Caruso in both the Long and Triple Jump events, Green in the 55-meter dash and the 4 X 200 relay team.
The relay team went on to compete in the New England Championship in Boston and the New Balance National Championship in New York in early March.
The Boys’ team, coached by Jason Tanguay, finished the regular season with a record of 17-3. The team placed 3rd in the SMAA conference and 5th in the State. Coach Tanguay explains, “One of the most impressive stats for this team is that every athlete scored points for us this season.”
Strong performances by Andrew Farr, and Calvin Cummings are highlighted by Coach Tanguay: Farr broke the school records in the 55, 200, and 400-meter events. Farr was the conference champion in all three events, along with anchoring the winning 4×400 relay team. Farr was also the state champion in the 200 and 400-meter events, breaking the state record in the 400 event. He competed at the New England Championships in the 300, earning All-New England honors. Andrew went on to compete at both the New Balance and Nike National Championships in New York City.
