The Town is planning to revive the tradition of awarding the Boston Post Cane to the Town’s oldest living resident. The person must have lived in Gorham for most of the most recent 10 year period and be willing to receive the honor. If you know of someone who might qualify, please contact the Town Clerk’s Office at 207-222-1670 to fill out a nomination form. Paperwork will be available until May 30th.

Gorham residents, USM students and all area residents can take advantage of the benefits of riding the Metro Husky Line which connects Gorham, Westbrook, Portland and both USM campuses. The Husky line also stops at Westbrook Row Crossing as well as Congress Street, Ocean Gateway and the ferry terminal in the Old Port. The School Budget Validation and State Primary election will be held on June 11th. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Maine has transitioned to a semi-open primary. Unenrolled voters may choose to vote in either party’s primary. Voters enrolled in a party may only vote in that party’s primary.

Absentee ballots are available. Contact the Clerk’s Office to request one. They will be mailed out once the Clerk’s Office receives them. The last day to obtain an absentee ballot will be June 6th by 7 p.m. Absentee ballots must be returned to the Town Clerk’s Office by 8 p.m. on Election Day June 11.
