Two members of the public spoke about their concerns about the results of the recent property re-evaluation and asked the Town to consider restoring an in-house assessor. A third member spoke about the Mosher Corner zoning change, the school budget and increasing taxes. Another member informed seniors that there is a bill currently in the legislature to repeal the LD-290 Senior Property Tax Stabilization Program. He voiced his concern about the school budget that if passed, would raise taxes substantially. Hidden Pines Drive man expressed his support for the Gorham School system.
The Gorham Farmers Market returned on May 6 and will be held on Saturdays.
The Market at Cherry Hill will be held on Wednesdays from 2-6 p.m. starting on May 10. There will be food trucks as well as vendors. The Gorham Historical Society will be holding an open house at their new Cherry Hill Farm location at the end of May.
The Ordinance Committee discussed the ongoing long-term plans for pedestrian improvements as called for in the Town’s Comprehensive Plan.
Cindy Hazelton, Gorham Recreation Director gave a visual presentation of the many services and programs offered by the Recreation Department.
Town Manager Parachak announced the annual school and budget meeting will be held on May 16 at 6:30 p.m.
Brush drop off at the Public Works is scheduled for May 6 and May 20, both from 8 a.m. until noon.
School Committee Chair Wright announced the final phase of modular expansion at Narragansett with the goal of opening for use in fall of 2024.
Gorham High School Graduation will be held on June 11 at the GHS field. The last day of school will be June 16.
The Council voted 7-0 to renew the liquor license for Azul Tequila.
Vote on the School Budget will be June 13. Residents will also be voting to adopt the 2023 Little Falls/South Windham Village Master Plan and voting to enter into a Community Resilience partnership with the State to benefit climate resilience.
