Courtney Yount is a current student at the University of Southern Maine (USM). She is joining the Gorham Times as an intern in the role of assistant editor and contributing writer.
Yount will be graduating from USM this December with a B.A. in English and a minor in Honors, a minor that consists of several honors level courses that focus on higher levels of learning and research in various subjects.

Her goal is to further literary research involving gender studies and theology in various forms of literature, such as Shakespeare, poetry and creative fiction. She plans on pursuing a career in editing or publishing, and post-secondary education.
Yount is looking forward to getting a taste of journalism, editing and design through this internship with The Gorham Times, while also compiling a writing portfolio for future careers and graduate applications.
“I am ecstatic to be a part of the amazing team that puts together every edition of the paper for you all to enjoy, and I cannot wait for what the future holds in the coming months,” said Yount.
