It is finally that time of the school year when Gorham Middle School (GMS) puts on their school show. The past few years have been Disney® musicals, such as “Beauty and the Beast” and “The Little Mermaid.” This year, directors Tana Krohn and Gregg Walton decided to bring a new sort of life to their stage.
The well-known television show “The Addams Family” was performed March 8-10 by many talented middle-schoolers.
Maddie Downey, an eighth-grader, starred as Wednesday and brought on the sass perfectly. She was able to show the importance of family through her character, which brightened up the show.
Morticia was played by eighth-grader Madison Woodcock. She impressed the audience with her outstanding performance of holding a straight face despite the non-stop humor throughout the production. Her elegance required her to learn the tango with her partner, eighth-grader Corinna Hahn, who played Gomez.
“That was definitely the hardest part,” Woodcock said.
Wednesday’s love interest, Lucas, played by eighth-grader, Maddy Lapierre, said her favorite part was to see the growth between all the cast members.
“Everyone was nervous in the beginning but became very courageous during the end,” said Lapierre.
Other roles were played by Aidan Fortier as the hilarious Fester, Nicholas Tinkham as the rugged Pugsley, Maeve Donnelly as the crazy Grandma, Bode Bragdon in his 12” platform shoes as Lurch, Alaina Christy as the wild Alice, and Sarah Rathbun as the loving Mal.
The cast worked hard over the past three months to put the musical together and their hard work showed on stage. Krohn and Walton had fun watching the actors break loose on stage. “The Addams Family” was the perfect fit for Gorham’s middle school talent.
