The Gorham Times wishes to thank Shirley Douglas for her exceptional service as she steps down from her role as head of production/design for our community newspaper. For more than 10 years, the newspaper has looked great, issue after issue, because of her creative talent, her work ethic, her good-natured capacity for last minute changes and her supportive relationships with Gorham Times advertisers. The Gorham Times staff and board want to celebrate her and say thank you for her significant contributions to our local newspaper.
Editor in chief, Lori Arsenault said, ”I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Shirley, always professional, collaborative, creative, and a truly pleasant person to work with. Shirley, many thanks from all of us for your remarkable service to the Gorham community through your work for the Gorham Times.”
Sheri Faber, Gorham Times news reporter, added, “Over the past 28 years, we have had many people come and go. Shirley stands out for her willingness to work with many different people who have weighed in on how the Gorham Times should look. Shirley was always ready to listen to suggestions and to make requested changes. It was a pleasure to work with her and we wish her all the best in her new job.”
Staff Reporter, Kathy Corbett, said, “Shirley was very skilled at fitting in so many articles and ads, while always producing an appealing paper we were proud to print. I will miss her good humor and her creative, problem-solving approach to the job she did so well for so many years.”
Shirley has a great artistic eye which made the paper attractive and readable, but more importantly she was absolutely wonderful to work with. Service with a smile, always. She will be greatly missed.
