The Gorham Wood Bat team made it to the championship game v. Scarborough in a matchup at GHS on Aug. 2. Last year the Rams won the A Division championship; beating South Portland in exciting fashion; showing the overall strength of the Gorham program with incoming freshman through the upperclassmen. Varsity head coach Ed Smith shared, “Scarborough brought a few aces to the championship game. We did have three hits offensively; Sawyer Smith with a hit, a stolen base and a run. Wyatt Walker with a hit, RBI and run and Chris Rumery with a hit and two stolen bases. Defensively, Walker came into the game with 3 2⁄3 of one run relief and had five strikeouts.” Gorham came up short offensively, losing to Scarborough with a score of 8-3.
Congratulations to the Rams for extending their regular summer schedule and making it to the championship game once again.
