NYG Coordinator

New Year Gorham will send off 2021 and welcome 2022 with an exciting mix of entertainment for all ages, including local talent along with favorites from the past. The celebration will begin at 3 p.m. and end at 9 p.m. with a dazzling fireworks display.

“We are excited to be planning a live, in-person event following CDC guidelines to assure a safe celebration for everyone,” announced NYG Coordinator Tom Hasbrouck. “The program will once again feature award-winning storyteller, Antonio Rocha (pronounced Haw-Sha). Antonio’s spellbinding repertoire includes stories of his native homeland (Brazil), age-appropriate folktales, mime, illusions, hilarious characters in outrageous situations.

NYG’s feature performer is Matt Roberts, an award-winning magician who will have you alternating between laughter and awe as he presents his one-man brand of sleight of hand, levitation, “mindreading” and even a jaw-dropping twist on one of Houdini’s famous feats. You’ll be talking about this renowned magic show long after the astonishing finale.

Of course, in addition to some surprises, several favorites will return by popular demand. The NYG Café, animals, science, balloons, magic and laughter, Acadian fiddling, to name only a few.

This year’s performances will also feature local talent, so you might see a neighbor, relative, friend or friend of a friend on stage – details about that and other information will be available on Facebook and on the Town of Gorham website.

Admission wristbands ($5 each) will be sold at the door, but they will also be available beginning early December at Hannaford (Gorham), Baxter Memorial Library, and the Gorham Rec. Department. Family $25 admission packages (families of 5 or more living at the same address) are available only at the Rec. Department.
