A 51-year-old retired state trooper, Jeffrey Linscott of Buxton, was arrested in the Hannaford parking lot in Gorham at 11:30 p.m on December 20 for suspected drug dealing. DEA agents seized several grams of suspected fentanyl as well as packing materials, scales and $1000 in cash. This arrest was the culmination of a two month investigation by the Maine DEA.
Linscott apparently suspected he was under investigation and changed the location of the pre-arranged drug sale. He had previously sold heroin and cocaine to undercover DEA officers in Windham last October.
Linscott was charged with a Class A Felony for aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs (fentanyl), Class D trafficking for fentanyl and cocaine, and unlawful possession of scheduled drugs for suspected fentanyl. More charges are expected. After his arrest, Lindscott was being held on $50,000 bail in a “dry cell” which is for inmates who are suspected of having hidden contraband in their bodies.
Linscott served as a trooper for 22 years during which time he patrolled the Maine Turnpike and was briefly an agent for the Maine DEA before being promoted and assigned to work in the homicide unit. He retired from the Maine State Police in 2010.
