Recently Plus Power introduced the project design and benefits of its future Gorham electric storage project, followed by a groundbreaking shovel event. The Cross Town Energy Storage facility is owned and developed by Plus Power which is a state of the art battery storage project that will provide energy and capacity services that enhance electric grid reliability, improve the integration of renewable energy, and create local jobs and economic benefits to Gorham and statewide. When completed it will be located in the Gorham Industrial Park.
Dan Burgess from the Governor’s Diversified Energy Office welcomed the company’s presence in Maine and said that the State looked forward to the project’s implementation. Mark Tourangeau, from Plus Power, spoke about the company’s commitment to renewable energy and goal of accelerating the deployment of transmission-connected battery storage throughout the United states.
Lee Pratt, Gorham Town Council Assistant Chair, welcomed Plus Power to Gorham and expressed Gorham’s commitment to the project and the benefits it will bring to the community. Gorham state Representative Mo Terry and State Senator Eloise Vitalli were also present to help welcome the company to Maine.
After the introductory remarks and speeches a groundbreaking ceremony took place with members of the company along with local and State representatives shoveling dirt with golden shovels.
