Approximately 400 people were involved in a two hour peaceful protest in Gorham which recognized the death of George Floyd at the hands of police officers. The event was organized by Gorham High School students who worked collaboratively with Gorham Police to ensure that it was “safe and productive,” said Police Chief Christopher Sanborn. Sanborn thanked the students who organized the protest as well as those who attended describing it as “a clear example of how communities can come together to shed light on and address issues in a manner that is safe for everyone involved. It demonstrated that we can build trust and use best practices for community engagement.”
