The Presumpscot Regional Land Trust (PRLT) is pleased to announce that Steep Falls Preserve is now a reality, thanks to the generous gift of land from the Anderson Family and the donations from 70 individuals and families in the region. Twenty acres adjacent to the 300 acre Steep Fall Wildlife area and the Mountain Division Trail are now protected forever.

Staff and volunteers will begin wildlife enhancement projects this summer, including a trailhead and a family-friendly loop trail. If you would like to volunteer please fill out a volunteer form found under “Get Involved” at www.prlt.org or contact Stewardship and Outreach Manager, Toby Jacobs at toby@prlt.org. The official ribbon cutting opening ceremony will be scheduled for the fall.

PRLT has begun a new fundraising project for the Lowell Preserve in Windham. This is considered a significant project as it is one of only a few remaining undeveloped parcels of over 300 acres left in the area. The land is owned by the Town of Windham, but once a conservation easement is in place, Lowell Preserve will be jointly managed by the Land Trust and the town of Windham.

The Land Trust has about $30,000 left to raise and during July, Gorham Savings Bank has generously agreed to match donations up to $500 until the $10,000 challenge amount has been reached. To donate, click here.
