The Gorham High School (GHS) Field Hockey Program got together on 9/11 to support the Stephen Ward Memorial 5K race/walk. This included both JV and Varsity players, coaches, and parents. Coach Becky Manson announced on the Gorham Sports Facebook page, “Annie Cunningham and Natalie Miner were first and second in their age group. Amazing team effort!”

Heart and energy radiate from this team. During the JV Field Hockey game against Scarborough last Saturday morning, the Varsity players were cheering on their JV teammates while waiting for their game to be played afterward. They were focused, excited, and ready to go. A great example of how being together off the field accentuates teamwork and trust and value towards one another.

On 9/30, the GHS Field Hockey Program will be holding a Mental Health and Suicide Prevention and Awareness Game. Donations will be taken at the gate and will go to support the Rylie Wareham Scholarship Fund.

The GHS Football Program participated in Autism Awareness night on 9/17, during their Week 3 Game. GHS Coaches, Athletic Director Tim Spear, and Athletic Trainer Natalie Hunt all wore autism awareness shirts during the GHS Football home game against Massabesic. Although the game ended in a loss, it’s a win for the program doing great things.

The Football Program does a nice job supporting and advocating important causes. Coach Sam Morrison explains, “the BL Lippert Head Football Coach at Cony High School started this a few years back and has shared the initiative with any coach in the state that wants to participate. That is just what we did for our Week 3 Game.”
