Looking for some flexible outdoor family fun? The 2nd annual Summer Trail Challenge will be held from July 1 – August 31. Co-Sponsored by the Presumpscot Regional Land Trust and REI Co-op, the event will take place on the East Windham Conservation Area and Lowell Preserve in Windham. Official registration is required at the Presumpscot Regional Land Trust website.

The Challenge is free, includes some nifty prizes, and is intended for all ages and hiking-skill levels. The goal is to locate and photograph at least three (or all six) specific landmarks within the 900-acre Lowell Preserve and East Windham Conservation Area by August 31 at 12:30 p.m. This 900-acre scenic trail network includes great views of the White Mountains, Little Duck Pond, lush forested views, a glacial erratic and a cave, and more.

This year’s challenge, co-sponsored by REI Co-op, has two levels of completion for participants. All participants who locate and photograph at least three of six landmarks (see list below) will win a co-branded Summer Trail Challenge water bottle (PRLT and REI), while those who locate and photograph all six will receive the water bottle, and a Presumpscot Regional Land Trust (PRLT) hat featuring PRLT’s new logo. All participants will receive a co-branded sticker.

The trail system terrain is hilly with a mix of wooded paths with uneven terrain as well as wide gravel roads with a more consistent terrain. To officially register and for more information including directions, maps and trail conditions, and how to submit your photos, visit www.prlt.org.
