The Fitzpatrick Trophy Selection Committee annually considers on-field performance – as well as academics and citizenship when choosing the top football players in the state of Maine. Jack Karlonas of Gorham was selected as one of the top 13 Fitzpatrick Trophy semi-finalists this year. Karlonas, a receiver/linebacker for the Rams, is a two-time Class B South All-Conference player.
Karlonas had 28 catches for 515 yards and seven touchdowns, 97 tackles, including 13 for loss. According to Coach Morrison, Karlonas is a dangerous return man on special teams with 11 total returns for 410 yards, scoring on punt and kick returns. The banquet to honor the semifinalists/finalist will take place on Jan. 19 in Portland. Karlonas will be attending Husson University in the fall, playing baseball.
