Empty shelves at Hannaford, Gorham Maine

As Gorham Hannaford continues with a planned remodel, one local resident noted the store “is like a treasure hunt I did not sign up for.”

Michael Norton, Director of External Communication and Community Relations for Hannaford Supermarkets, believes the changes will be a nice improvement despite the inconvenience to shoppers in the short-term.

Shoppers can find guides throughout the store detailing where items are located during the remodel.

Once the store upgrade is complete, the CLYNK return will be in a separate area outside the building. In the area where CLYNK is currently located, the store will offer customers a Hannaford-to-Go option and a new pharmacy.

Other major improvements include an expanded section of prepared foods and frozen foods. In addition, the décor – floors, paint, fixtures and signage – all will be upgraded.

The work began about a month ago, and according to Norton, should be complete late in the first quarter of the new year.

While the size of the store, approximately 48,000-square-feet, will not change, Norton noted, “changes like moving CLYNK and other changes in the departments will allow us to offer more items, especially in fresh meals to go and frozen foods.”
