The Gorham Times is pleased to welcome Megan Dunlap (GHS 2014) and Molly Lortie (GHS 2010) who will work as a team in charge of Production and Design of the newspaper.
Both are well-qualified, with design and production backgrounds in print and digital media. Having a team working on production will mean more flexibility and critical backup when needed, which will benefit the newspaper.
Editor in chief said, “it’s great to have several people on the same team with similar and complementary skills. Combining the skills of these two women with the rest of the team will assure the continued health of the Gorham Times for years to come.”
Interestingly, both women worked with the Gorham Times while still in high school. Dunlap was an intern with the paper during her senior year. She said,” I’m super excited to join the team at Gorham Times, assisting with the design of the paper. I’m happy to be part of the team.”
Lortie was part of the GT distribution team, delivering bundles of Gorham Times to local businesses. She said, “Being able to help create the paper now feels very full circle. I’m excited to contribute to an effort that’s both powered by and dedicated to our local community.”
Lortie graduated from Brandeis University in 2014 with a degree in international and global studies and environmental studies. She worked in India for several years with a small, non-profit publication that produced print and digital news. Lortie explained, “I was writing, editing, and translating articles, and also co-designing and distributing a print newspaper monthly to the local community. It was a great opportunity to get a taste of all aspects of media and journalism.”
Lortie is currently the communications supervisor for Grove Collaborative where she is responsible for department newsletters, training content, and career development articles which foster an engaged remote working environment.
Dunlap is a 2018 graduate of Saint Joseph’s College of Maine (SJC) with a Bachelor of Science degree in communications with a focus on new media, and minors in video production and business. During college, she served as a sports information intern for three years. Among other tasks, she was primarily responsible for the Monks’ social media efforts, significantly increasing the development of the department’s Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts.
Dunlap is currently the athletic operations and sports information manager at St. Joseph’s College. She coordinates SJC student event staff, manages the daily operation of the Monks’ social media platforms, works with the Student Athlete Advisory Committee to help promote and execute events, and is a member of the Academic Athletic Working Group on campus.
