The Gorham School Department provided a K-5 summer learning intervention program in collaboration with the Gorham Recreational Department.
Approximately 45 students, nominated by their classroom teachers, attended Great Falls for 5 weeks of academic and social learning. The program consisted of 3 hours of morning academics followed by an afternoon of art, music, and physical education or a once-a-week field experience facilitated by the Gorham Recreational Department.
This summer program included several community volunteers who assisted in supporting our youngest students in literacy. Great Falls administrators Becky Fortier and Deanna Etienne oversaw the learning program that ran from July 5 through August 4 and was instructed by the talented Gorham teaching staff.
The program was grateful that transportation was provided by the Gorham School Department bus drivers while fabulous lunch and snacks were provided by Gorham Food Services. Attendance was high and students made great progress while learning and having fun.
