Gorham Middle School recently held its 13th annual Talent Show, sponsored by the Student Council. Most audience members would agree with one of the night’s MCs, Julia Yager, when she declared, “I’m kind of jealous because I don’t have that talent.”
Talent ranged from singing (including opera) and dancing (including Irish Step) to members of the GMS steel drums band performing. The grand finale provided endless humor as four dancers walked onto the stage and critiqued six “ballers” (eighth grade basketball players) during their Richard Simmons-style fitness class and challenged them to see who had the best moves.
Congratulations to all the talented GMS students who performed: McKenna Roberts sang “Color Blind,” Emma Poitras sang “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” Gabby LaBarge mesmerized the audience with her robotic dance moves, Sia Hyson played guitar and sang “Hallelujah,” and Clara Shvets, Nash Gagnon, and Hannah Gawlick performed an Irish Step Dance.
Annika Mocciola and Lauren Bachner performed a musical duet to “What is This Feeling,” Ethan Ho sang “Big Fat Bass” with back-up dancers, Alicia McKay sang “Sweater Weather,” Sam D’Amico, Sierra Cummings, Emma Mullin, Anya Mazaris-Atkinson, Zac Lembarra, Amelia Yahwak, Tess Libby, and Orion Bissonnette performed “Can’t Stop The Feeling” on the steel drums.
Emelia Bailey (opera singer) performed “Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again,” Leah James and Sadie LaPierre sang a duet of “Riptide” accompanied by a ukulele, and Ava Stump sang “Into the Dark.”
The grand finale included the four dancers: Mikki Leskowsky, Sophie Gagne, Maya Lee, and Haley Crosby, and the six “ballers”: Grant Nadeau (instructor), Bode Meader, Richie Jiang, Ryan Kratzer, Matthew Phinney, and Ayden Lindsay with a cameo by Keagan Lindsay and light show production by Mason Laskey and Andrew Brent.
