The first Gorham Cares event benefitting the Piawlock/Cox families was held on Saturday, March 18, at Spire 29. The band Under the Covers provided entertainment to more than 125 people and those in attendance were treated to hors d’oeuvres and a silent auction.

As the capacity of Spire 29 was limited, a second family-friendly event will be held on Saturday, April 15, from 1- 4 pm at the USM gymnasium in Gorham. The event will include a DJ, food, bounce houses and other activities geared more toward kids.

The new venue holds 500+ people so a cap on ticket sales is not expected. Mrs. Maine contestants will be there, Party Time Rentals will provide popcorn and cotton candy machines, Dance Studio of Maine (DSOM) will be performing, and games and raffles will be offered for kids.

Raffle items include $50 VISA gift cards, a fire truck ride for a Gorham student, Samsung Gear VR glasses, a custom-made doll house and other kid friendly prizes. T-shirts will be on sale featuring Paige Piawlock’s panda artwork.
