GMS Musical Director

“When you’re an Addams, you do what Addams’ always do!” sing over 50 Gorham Middle School (GMS) students in the opening number of “The Addams Family Young@Part®.”

Along with another dozen tech crew members, GMS students have been working hard to prepare for the school’s annual musical production, to be presented in March.

“The Addams Family,” a musical comedy with music and lyrics by Andrew Lippa, book by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice, and adaptation by Marc Tuminelli, is indeed based on the well-known Addams Family cartoon characters created by Charles Addams.

Gomez, Morticia, Wednesday, Pugsley, Uncle Fester, Lurch, and Grandma fill the stage with their unusual personalities in a show that captures the family in the midst of their macabre world, while thoroughly emphasizing the strong family values that they maintain.

The scene is set as Wednesday Addams, that irresistible bundle of malice, has grown up and found love. The family is ripe for conflict as soon as Wednesday invites her young man from Ohio, Lucas Beineke, and his parents, to dinner. Two different worlds are about to collide.

Will love triumph, or will everyone go home vaguely depressed? Audiences young and old are sure to be entertained by this comical, bizarre, and strangely authentic account of evolving relationships.

Performances of “The Addams Family Young@Part®” will be held at the GMS auditorium on Friday, March 8, and Saturday, March 9, at 7 p.m., and Sunday, March 10, at 2 p.m. Tickets are $5 at the door.
