GMS Music/Chorus Teacher

On Friday, March 4 and Saturday, March 5, eighteen Gorham Middle School (GMS) students participated in the 2022 District 1 Maine Music Educators Association Middle School Honors Chorus and Band Festival. This was the first in-person festival since Spring 2020.

Twelve 7th and 8th grade singers were nominated and accepted to this year’s Honors Chorus under the direction of the guest conductor, Gorham High School’s very own Matthew Murray.

The Honors Band this year was guest conducted by Jean Quinn, former band director of Memorial Middle School in South Portland and instructor at USM. Six 7th & 8th grade Gorham Middle School instrumentalists were nominated and accepted to this year’s Honors Band.

The District 1 Honors Band and Honors Chorus rehearsed all day on Friday and Saturday, then performed a concert Saturday afternoon in the beautiful facilities at Noble High School in North Berwick along with students from Cape Elizabeth, Westbrook, Scarborough, Thornton Academy, Bonny Eagle, South Portland, Massabesic, Noble and Sanford.
