On Tuesday, Jan. 30, Senior Ashton LeClerc reached his 1000-point milestone, in front of a completely crowded game v. Bonny Eagle. It was also senior night for the Rams. On the Rams’ early possession, LeClerc and his teammates moved down the court quickly with what looked like a designed play; LeClerc then hit a 3-pointer from well out of the 3-point range, reaching 1000 points and sparking the crowd and team early on.
LeClerc shared, “One thousand points has been a goal of mine for several years. Reaching this milestone was exciting, especially since I was able to do it at home on senior night in front of our home crowd. The youth basketball players have been our team’s biggest fans and they were all there to celebrate with us.”
LeClerc played varsity all four years, and due to another player’s unfortunate injury, he moved into the starting lineup halfway through his Freshman year, which was also the team’s limited schedule (COVID season).
LeClerc added, “In the off-season I workout with my trainer, Chris Pribish, at Momentum Performance. I have played basketball my entire life with AAU and Gorham travel. I spent many mornings in the gym shooting before school thanks to Coach Berthiaume.”
Next up, LeClerc and his teammates have their sights set on making it to the Cross Insurance Arena to win a state title. Feb. 8 marked the last regular season game with a record of 16-2, defeating Scarborough to clinch the #1 seed. This team is fun to watch and they have had incredible success this year, and are in a great position to win a state championship. He credits his coaches and teammates for a lot of his success.
LeClerc is committed to playing basketball at Roger Williams University next year and plans to study environmental law.
