On September 8, Gorham firefighters answered a call to a commercial building on Main Street. Carbon monoxide from a gas-powered saw had filled Otto’s Pizza space which is under renovation. The complex was evacuated while firemen evaluated two workers and cleared the building of gas. “The carbon monoxide level was 1500 parts per million (ppm) when we arrived,” Chief Ken Ficket said. “We evacuate residences when there are 15 ppm.” The workers were unharmed, and the building was declared safe in under an hour.
