Eighty-two-year old Gary Marshall died in a fire at his home at 5 Patio Park Lane on March 7. Deputy Chief Kenneth Fickett reported that Marshall had been cooking on the kitchen stove around 6 p.m. and that was where the fire originated. The fire then spread to the rest of the home.

Firefighters were able to enter the home and found Marshall in the bathroom. They pulled him out of the house but they were not able to revive him. Several neighboring fire departments responded and helped to bring the fire under control by 7 p.m. The mobile home was destroyed.

An investigator from the State Fire Marshall’s office is working with Gorham Fire Department to determine the cause of the fire but it does not appear to have been suspicious. There were no smoke detectors in the house. The medical examiner determined Marshall died from smoke inhalation.
