The Gorham School Department announced that Dr. Quinton Donahue will serve as the new Assistant Superintendent of the Gorham School Department, beginning July 1, 2024.
Dr. Donahue enters this leadership position with extensive experience in both administration and the classroom, having over 20 years of experience in fostering academic excellence and cultivating positive learning environments. Over the past five years, he has served as the Principal of Gorham Middle School, focused on driving student achievement, implementing innovative educational initiatives, and promoting a positive school climate.
Dr. Donahue replaces Dr. Brian Porter who is retiring after thirty years as Principal of Village School and Assistant Superintendent of the Gorham School System. Dr. Porter has been a well-respected and highly valued member of the Gorham educational system.
Previously, Dr. Donahue served as Principal of Mount View Middle School (Thorndike, ME.), where he earned recognition for his leadership focused on students achieving significant academic growth. Before his administrative positions he dedicated 10 years to teaching high school math at Hampden Academy (Hampden, ME.), inspiring students to excel in mathematics.
Dr. Donahue holds a Ph.D. in Education with a focus on Educational Leadership from the University of Maine. His research centered on enhancing critical thinking in mathematics classrooms. Additionally, he earned a Master of Education in Educational Leadership and a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Mathematics Education from the University of Maine.
Dr. Donahue is a member of the Gorham community, where he resides with his wife, Jessica.
Dr. Donahue commented on his appointment, “Gorham is a special place! I have truly enjoyed my time as Gorham Middle School Principal. However, I am enthusiastic about deepening the relationships established with our staff, students, families, and community members, and serving the community in a broader capacity. I look forward to working together with all the Gorham stakeholders to help continue to prepare and inspire all of our students.”
