@Work Personnel Services relocated from Portland to 358 Main St. in Gorham on April 4. @Work has been helping Mainers find temporary to permanent job placements since 1992. The office moved to Gorham to be in a better spot to recruit new employees. Marie Beatham, General Manager of the five Maine agencies, said, “The Gorham location is easier to find and prevents people from having to deal with the Portland traffic to apply for work.” The Maine-owned-and-operated franchise also has offices in Brewer, Skowhegan, Turner, and Sanford.
How is @Work different from other temp agencies? They pride themselves on their small business atmosphere, competitive pay rates, and many opportunities for work. Employees are also offered a benefits package and can earn paid holidays.
Beatham shared that several employers who use @Work’s services often need traffic controllers and flaggers. While this may not be an applicant’s first job choice, these positions offer immediate work. Employees are able to earn a paycheck while @Work continues to help them with their job search. “Our overall goal is to find positions for all of our temps and get them permanently hired, but we also want to keep our employees on their feet between jobs.”
Many businesses start the hiring processes as soon as a temp starts working, while others will call @Work for employees to fill seasonal or large contract needs in production and assembly-type facilities. Clients of @Work appreciate that employees are always at the ready and are assured people will be placed in other positions when short-term projects are completed.
Along with hiring laborers from all skill levels across many industries, @Work also helps businesses secure top notch managers through their Executive Recruitment services. With diverse placement opportunities available, Beatham encourages job seekers from any background to stop by the new office: “@Work cannot exist without good, reliable employees!”
Sue Richards, Account Manager at the Gorham office, said @Work held an open house the week of April 10. She invites both potential employees and employers to stop by Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Richards, and Staffing Specialist Amanda Hutchins, can be reached at 839-5060. They are eager to start connecting workers and jobs in the Gorham community.
