With the added stress and isolation of the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s extremely important to get outside and be active.
That’s exactly what Gorham High School teacher Jason Tanguay and Jim Karcanes thought when they began organizing the Gorham Outdoors Club back in January. At first, the group started out small. Now, the team has amassed to over 70 general members.
This club is all about engaging community members in activities outside their homes that are not only fun, but suitable for all ages. So far, they’ve held multiple mindfulness walks and fitness challenges, an archery clinic, and a drive-in movie.
For their most recent event, reality show Survivor winner and retired GHS teacher Bob Crowley teamed up with the Gorham Fire Department to teach fire building and fire safety.
With the warmer weather arriving soon, the Club is hoping to see even more participants in their upcoming events. There’s something for everyone. Check out the spring/summer preview provided.
