Over 60 members of the Gorham High School (GHS) Interact Club participated in a satellite, virtual, and remote Relay for Life event on May 3 to join forces with the American Cancer Society.

Relay for Life is the signature fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. It is staffed and coordinated by volunteers in more than 5,200 communities and 27 countries who give their time and effort because they want to take action against cancer.

Although this year’s event looked very different than those in years past, the Gorham Interact Club chose to get involved in the Relay for Life to remember loved ones lost, honor survivors of all cancers, and raise money to help the American Cancer Society make a global impact on cancer.

Gorham High School sophomore Mallorie Bergquist-Guimond recently participated in the Interact Club’s virtual event of Relay for Life, raising money for cancer.

Together, as a group, the Club raised $2,834 to aid in this worthwhile cause. During the event itself, the premise was that at least one of the participating Interact members was engaging in a physical activity remotely during the entire day between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.

GHS and the Gorham community are very proud of the Club’s members and their participation in this event. During these difficult times, it is important that everyone does their best to step outside of themselves and focus on how they can help others.
