On Oct 26, 2024, a sunny, crisp fall Saturday morning, the Gorham Recreation teams put a Halloween spin during their last games of the season. It was a chance to make things extra fun for the players, parents, coaches and spectators of all ages. Some coaches had spooky themed warm-ups; ghosts were chasers, the soccer ball was named a “pumpkin” and the goalposts “broomsticks.”

The players, especially at this age, loved nothing more than showing up in costume to share with their teammates. They enjoyed the silly, competitive fun. Some ranged from blow-up costumes to Bob Ross the painter and Mario. The creativity seemed endless. Speaking of being creative; The Orange team from the beginning of the season decided to put a fun spin on their look and called themselves the “kitty kickers”. Before and after all of the Girls and Boys last sessions (Youth Program Director Travis Grant) and a few other volunteers handed out candy to the kiddos. There were plenty of Ghouls and Hat-tricks during both sessions to end the fall 2024 season. Next season perhaps teams will have the Goblins vs.the Skeletons? It was a magical season for everyone involved.
