Award-winning Maine author Paul Doiron will be returning to the Baxter Memorial Library for an author talk on Tuesday, Dec. 10 at 6 p.m, when he is expected to read excerpts from his latest wilderness crime novel, Pitch Black. The story takes place in the remote wilderness region north of Moosehead Lake, near the Canadian border, in an area accessible only by bush plane and unimproved forestry roads.

“Pitch Black” is the 14th novel in Doiron’s Mike Bowditch series of crime thrillers. Beginning with “The Poacher’s Son” in 2010, Doiron’s novels feature Mike Bowditch, a Maine Game Warden whose crime-fighting exploits take him well beyond the typical responsibilities of his occupation. The novels have captivated readers around the world and have been translated into over ten languages. The fourteen books’ wide appeal is enhanced by their dramatic settings in various areas of Maine’s remote North Woods.

Doiron is the former editor of Downeast Magazine. He has served on the Maine Arts Commission and is a past chair of the Maine Humanities Council. He is also a registered Maine Guide.

Attendees are advised to arrive early in order to ensure obtaining a seat, as this is expected to be a popular event.
