The University of Southern Maine invited a huge community of alumni to return to campus for Homecoming and Family Weekend, three days of Portland and Gorham events, including a variety of athletic events and concerts.
During the weekend, alumni from around the state and beyond return to reconnect with friends, faculty, staff, and meet new students. Of 62,000 alumni, an estimated 70 percent reside in Maine.
Among the most popular events during the weekend is the Olde Fashioned Outdoor Band Concert, visited by many Gorham community members through the years. This year, conducted by William Kinne, the concert band featured 10 alumni musicians among the students. And in keeping with tradition, Dr. Kinne handed the baton to President Jacqueline Edmondson for the performance of one piece of music.
