Long time Gorham resident Dee Libbey is in search of a kidney donor. Dee grew up and went to Gorham schools. While in high school she started a career at UNUM, where she worked for twenty seven years.

Dee inherited polycystic kidney disease from her mother. This is a disorder in which clusters of cysts develop within your kidneys causing your kidneys to enlarge and lose function over time. For the past thirteen years she has been going for dialysis treatment three days a week. She explained that this is very limiting and has not been on a vacation for a long time, so she decided to do something about it. Dee talked with her doctor and he explained she needed to be healthier to be eligible for a kidney transplant. In the past two years she has worked on getting healthier and in the process has lost two hundred pounds. She said, “The opportunity to be healthier and live a normal life would be a blessing for me.”

Last Thursday she was approved for a kidney transplant. She is now searching for a donor. If you have any leads for her to follow she can be contacted at rangosmama@aol.com.
