Great Falls School opened in September of 2011. Principal Jane Esty and Assistant Principal Becky Fortier welcomed a brand new staff and almost 500 excited children, grades K-5.
The opening coincided with the reconfiguration of the elementary schools in Gorham. In previous years, White Rock School and Narragansett School housed grades K-2 and Village School was attended by all students in grades 3-5. The opening allowed White Rock School to be closed and all three remaining schools to become K-5 neighborhood or area schools with reconfigured and blended teaching staffs.
Today, Great Falls School is the educational center for about 500 students and a staff of about 70 professionals. The 10 year celebration was an opportunity for the community to celebrate the last ten years and spend time with friends, new and old. With music performances, a bounce house, face painting, cotton candy and many other activities , there were many smiling faces in the neighborhood on May 25th.
