Casco Bay Wind Symphony (CBWS), Gorham’s community band conducted by Will Kinne, will participate in the 44th Annual R.B. Hall Day on June 29. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Stevens Brook Elementary School, 14 Francis Bell Drive in Bridgton, hosted by the Bridgton Community Band. CBWS is on the schedule for 1:30 p.m.
Robert Browne Hall was a Maine composer of marches and other wind music during the John Philip Sousa era. Though not as well known nationally, his tunes are still recognizable and his legacy is celebrated every year on the last Saturday in June.
This year, Bridgton Community Band hosts the day of music with community bands from all over Maine as well as a noontime ‘massed band’ where everyone is welcome to play and R.B. Hall’s own cornet will be featured!
There will be food vendors, crafters, bucket drumming, activities for kids, and one-of-a-kind R.B. Hall t-shirts for sale. The event is free and open to the public. Bring a lawn chair. R.B. Hall Day will take place rain or shine, outdoors or in the school.
